ABLE Publishes 2022 Immigration Advocacy Project Report to the Community

Each year, Advocates for Basic Legal Equality’s Immigration Advocacy Project releases a report to the community with important updates, statistics, and client stories to share our impact on agricultural worker and immigrant communities throughout Ohio. Our advocacy focuses on keeping families together, protecting victims of crime, and building a stronger community through various virtual and in-person initiatives.

Our recently published 2022 Immigration Advocacy Project Report to the Community discusses the outreach events, educational resources, training sessions, litigation work, and client successes of the past year. Highlights include:

• Conducting a four-part “Train the Trainers” series for a group of Latinx residents in northwest Ohio, providing attendees with legal information on topics ranging from tax issues to DACA updates, to their rights and obligations in encounters with law enforcement.
• Visiting more than 100 agricultural labor camps throughout the state, distributing Spanish-English outreach bags.
• Leading the way in litigation and advocacy against racially discriminatory law enforcement practices.
• Increasing our pro bono services to local immigrants.
